Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking with the Borderless Media community. I shared my story, answered questions, and supported families taking steps toward a life beyond borders.
But the thing that stuck out most: Many Americans never even get to that starting line.
According to Pew Research, 23% of Americans have never left the country, even once. And nearly half, about 48% don’t even hold a valid passport. That means millions are living without the basic freedom to explore, much less consider relocating for safety, opportunity, or quality of life.
It makes my heart ache.
We’ve been taught in schools, in our upbringing, in the news, to believe America is the only place worth being. That the grass isn’t greener unless it’s right here. But here’s what I see:
Parents are too busy holding it together to imagine a different option.
Families trapped in broken systems, hoping for tomorrow to be better without daring to pick up and build differently.
